You may apply for a passport renewal if:

Your most recent passport has not expired, or

It has been expired for no longer than 5 years
Renewals:

Do not require a visit to a Passport Acceptance Agent
🆕 When You Need a New Passport
You must apply for a new passport if:

You have never had a passport before
-
This is your first adult passport (previous passport issued before age 16)

Your most recent passport has been expired for more than 5 years
New passport applications:
