📍 When Is a Traditional Japan Visa Required?

A traditional Japan visa is required:

  • When an applicant is not visa-exempt, and

  • The visa type is not eligible for an e-Visa, or

  • The applicant is not eligible for the Japan tourism e-Visa

Applicants applying for visa types other than tourism must apply through the consulate.

If you are not eligible for the tourism e-Visa, you must apply for a traditional tourist visa at the consulate.


🔁 Can I Apply for a Multiple Entry Japan Visa?

Applicants may request a multiple entry visa.

However:

  • Multiple entry is not guaranteed

  • The consulate determines the number of entries granted

If requesting multiple entry:

  • Complete the Multiple Entry Request Form included in your instructions

Approval is at the discretion of the consulate.


⏱️ Processing Time

Traditional Japan visa processing is:

  • Approximately one week from the date of submission to the consulate

There is no expedited service available.

Processing times may change without notice.


📄 Traditional Japan Business Visa Requirements

(For non-U.S. citizens not eligible for e-Visa)

You must provide:

  • Original passport (signed, with at least two blank visa pages)

  • One recent passport photo

  • Copy of U.S. green card or valid U.S. visa status

  • Completed Japan visa application

  • Schedule of Stay form

  • Letter of Invitation from Japan

  • U.S. company business letter with original signature

  • Most recent bank statement

  • Round-trip flight itinerary

  • Letter of Authorization

  • Multiple Entry Request Form (if applicable)

Additional documents may be requested by the consulate.


📄 Traditional Japan Tourist Visa Requirements

(For non-U.S. citizens not eligible for e-Visa)

You must provide:

  • Original passport (signed, with at least two blank visa pages)

  • One recent passport photo

  • Copy of U.S. green card or valid U.S. visa status

  • Completed Japan visa application

  • Schedule of Stay form

  • Round-trip flight itinerary

  • Letter of Authorization

  • Multiple Entry Request Form (if applicable)

  • Most recent bank statement

  • Personal questionnaire form

The consulate may request additional documents.
